Auxiliary Fence

For extra support, I often temporarily screw an auxiliary fence to my mite gauge, see Drawing. The only problem with this is that the woodscrews eventually strip out the holes in the auxiliary fence. To solve the problem, I replaced the woodscrews with machine screws and threaded inserts, see Drawing. (Note: This also makes installation and removal quick and easy.)

  4. Available at hardware or tool stores, Come-A-Long will hook to the post on one end and the hook will connect to the end or termination bar for pulling. By cranking the handle, you reel in the cable pulling the fencing taut. Fence contractor New Orleans

  10. When the new tool catalog arrived, I found myself looking for any interesting accessories that would make my work in the workshop easier and more precise. I tried various auxiliary fences made for table saws, but the effect was limited; until I did mine, I didn't think I had covered all the basics. It is fully functional, accurate, versatile and inexpensive.

  11. I have been using this for many years and it still hasn't disappointed me. I chose medium density fiberboard (MDF) and some scrap wood to build my fence. MDF does not expand or contract with seasonal changes in humidity like solid wood, making it a great and stable choice. The short wooden shim will not move enough to affect the accuracy of the fence.

  15. A simple, flat piece of hardwood connected to the face of your standard table saw fence is all that typically makes up an auxiliary fence. When doing any task that might result in the blade coming into contact with the fence, such as cutting rabbets with a dado blade, you must apply this fence supplement. The auxiliary fence keeps the blade away from the primary fence face of your saw and enables you to fine-tune the width of the rabbet without fiddling with the dado blade.
